This dialog allows to define and change settings for the communication. Go to the menu bar entry Tools and select Communication Settings... to open the dialog.

Settings

Type of the used protocol for communication.

Selection from drop-down list:

  • Runtime Service
  • Remote Access Protocol
  • Multi-Runtime Service
  • Runtime Service over CAN

Default: Runtime Service

Protocol

General communication settings. This configuration is represented as text item with the following syntax:

<ip-address>:<port-number>(<connection-timeout>)

Example: 127.0.0.1:1200(10)
Direct input is possible. This configuration can also be parametrized with the help of an additional dialog.

Click on the ... button opens the Communication Settings dialog.

Default: localhost:1200(10)

Timeout (seconds)

Time in seconds after that a timeout notification is triggered. The timeout value is shown at the end of the address string in brackets.

Hint: The default Timeout setting is 3 seconds. If a value is entered that differs from the default value, this value is added in brackets at the end of the settings string.

Timeout value:

  • 0 will be ignored and not added to the settings string

3 is default and will not be added to the settings string

Discards all changes and closes the dialog.

Opens the Communication Settings dialog.

Opens online help.
