Purpose of SMTP Configuration

The primary purpose of configuring SMTP is to automate the process of sending emails when a security threat or event is triggered within the WP500 system. This ensures that the appropriate personnel or department is alerted promptly, allowing them to take immediate action.

Configure SMTP in WP500

  1. Email Configuration:
    • Enter the email address that will be used as the sender for all threat-related emails.
    • Provide the password associated with the From Email ID.
    • Specify the SMTP host  (e.g., smtp.example.com).
    • SMTP Type: Select the type of SMTP encryption (SSL or TLS) based on your organization's security protocols.


  1. SSL Configuration:
    • Input the port number for the SSL socket factory.
    • Enter the SSL port number used by the SMTP server.
    • Select whether to use a secure connection with SSL by choosing True or False.


  1. TLS Configuration:
    • Provide the port number for TLS communication.
    • TEnable or disable TLS authentication as per your organization’s requirements.
    • Toggle to activate TLS for enhanced security.


  1. Email Recipients:
    • To Email ID: Enter the recipient email addresses that will receive the threat notifications.
    • CC and BCC: Optionally, you can include additional recipients in the CC (Carbon Copy) or BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) fields.


  1. click the Add button to save the configuration.


Organizational Setup

Each organization may have specific settings for their SMTP configuration based on their email service provider and security requirements. Ensure that the correct email credentials, server details, and encryption protocols are followed as per your organizational policies.
