Two Factor Authentication
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a security feature that enhances the protection of your WP500 Gateway by requiring an additional verification step beyond the standard password login. With 2FA enabled, users must provide a second form of authentication usually a time-based one-time password (TOTP) generated by an authenticator app on their mobile device.
Purpose and Benefits of 2FA:
- Increased Security: 2FA significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access by requiring an extra layer of verification. Even if a password is compromised, unauthorized users will not be able to log in without the second authentication factor.
- Protection Against Threats: By implementing 2FA, you safeguard your system from various cyber threats, including phishing attacks, brute-force attempts, and unauthorized access by adding a robust layer of security to your login process.
Enabling Two-Factor Authentication
Follow these steps to set up and enable Two-Factor Authentication for your system:
- Click on the User profile > 2 Factor Auth menu in the WP500 web interface.
- Turn on the toggle button to activate Two-Factor Authentication. This action initiates the setup process for 2FA.
- After enabling 2FA, locate and click on the Generate QR Code button. This generates a QR code that will be used for linking your authenticator app with Cyberguard.
- On your mobile device, access the app store, and download and install an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator.
- Use your mobile device’s camera to scan the QR code displayed on the Dashboard. The app will recognize the QR code and generate a unique time-based one-time password (TOTP).
- After scanning the QR code, will prompt you to enter the OTP generated by the authenticator app.
- Input the OTP into the designated field on the Dashboard and click on the Validate button to complete the 2FA setup process.
