The SCL Editor allows to create an object model for an IED.

All changes will be saved as *.ICD file in XML format according to the IEC 61850 standard.

The object model is used to configure the IEC 61850 server.

The menu bar provides an overview about possible proceedings and actions.

Parameters

Description

Add new IED

Opens the Select Edition dialog:

  • Edition 1.0
  • Edition 2.0

After the selection of the desired editon the new IED is added in the SCL Editor.

Add Logical Device

Opens the Select Edition dialog to add a new Logical Device, if the SCL Editor has been opened for the first time and the Edition has not been selected until yet:

  • Select the Edition and click on OK to confirm.
    The Add New Type dialog to select the setting for LLN0 occurs.
  • Select your settings and click on OK to confirm.
    Another Add New Type dialog for the settings of LPHD occurs.
  • Define your settings and click on OK to confirm.

Hint: After this configurations another click on Add Logical Device will add a new device with the defined settings. The Add New Type dialog is not shown again.

Create and Add Logical Node

Opens the Add New Type dialog to define and add a Logical Node.

Add Logical Node

Opens the Select Logical Node dialog.

Add Dataset

Adds a new Dataset. Each new Dataset gets automatically an increasing number in the name.

Example:

  • Data Set: DS00
  • Data Set: DS0001
  • Data Set: DS0002

Add Report Control Block

Creates a Report Control Block in the selected Logical node. A wizard opens to select the Report Control Block Template.

Add GOOSE Control Block

Creates a GOOSE Control Block in the selected Logical node. A wizard opens to select the GOOSE Template.

Import SCL file

Allows to import a SCL file. A security query dialog opens, if you want to delete the current configuration. After the confirmation of this security request, the dialog for the import opens.

One or more single IEDs can be imported in one file.

Export file

Opens the selection dialog for the storage location of the exported file.

Check Syntax

Checks the existing syntax. You can see the result in the output window.

Edit communication

Opens the Communication dialog.

Edit services

Opens the Services dialog.

Add Type

Opens the Add New Type dialog.

Remove Type

Deletes a selected Type.

Import Types

Opens the dialog to import a Type via a file.

Supported file extension are:

  • *.ICD
  • *.CID
  • *.SCL
  • *.XML
  • *.SCD

Show/Hide Output

Enables/Disables the output window of the SCL editor.

IED handling

The SCL Editor allows to add, remove and copy IEDs.

This can be done via the context menu entries:

  • Delete: removes the entire IED
    Hint: This command can be executed only if there are at least two IEDs in tree. It is not possible to remove all IEDs.
  • Duplicate IED: allows to duplicate the selected IED
    Hint: This command uses recurse copy, so everything in the IED is duplicated using the same names.
  • Add New IED: allows to add a new IED in the tree. The name is set automatically.

Note: These commands cannot be used without a license. Two IEDs cannot have the same name. If an existing name is entered, an error dialog is displayed.

Logical nodes handling

Logical nodes can be copied and pasted in the same IED file via:

  • the context menu entries Copy and Paste
  • the Keyboard shortcuts for Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V)
  • Ctrl and the Drag&Drop functionality

Additional the entries can be moved in the same IED file by:

  • the context menu entries Cut and Paste
  • the Keyboard shortcuts for Cut (Ctrl + X) and Paste (Ctrl + V)
  • the Drag&Drop functionality

Private tags handling

Private tags can be edited, added and removed via an own dialog.
