Area for Request description.

Description

Free definable name.

Default: empty

Data read by master

Defines the MODBUS function code used.

Input Bits

Bits read by external masters (function code 2 Read Discrete Inputs).

Default: active

Input Registers

Words read by external masters (function code 4 Read Input Register).

Default: inactive

Data read or forced by the master

Defines the MODBUS function code used.

Coil Bits

Bits forced by external masters (function code 5 Write Single Coil or 15 Write Muliple Coils).

Default: inactive

Holding Registers

Words forced by external masters (function code 6 Write Single Register or 16 Write Multiple Registers).

Default: inactive

Data block

Each data block is identified by a MODBUS base address and a number of items (bits or words).

Base address

Start address of the data block in the MODBUS table.

Default: 1

Nb Item

Amount of data in the data block. Depending on the selected function code type bits or words.

Default: 1

Declare varibles

Allows to declare variables for the data block following the address sceme of the function code

Default: inactive

Prefix

% is the placeholder for digits.

Example: V%%% = V000

Default: V%

Datatype Dropdown menu

Allows to select predefined Datatypes according to the setting in the MODBUS Request area.

Default: BOOL

Startnumber for automatic naming (digits)

Default: 1

Read and write requests sent by MODBUS masters will be denied if the range specified in the request does not fit within a data block defined in the configuration. Requests overlapping two data blocks will be denied.
For example, if you configure a block of 16 words starting at address 1 and another block of 16 words starting at address 17, a request for read or write of 32 words starting at address 1 will be denied and an "address error" exception will be reported.

When a server data block is selected, use the Edit / New variable command to map a variable to an item of the data block.

Close dialog

Option

Description

OK

Applies settings and closes the dialog.

Cancel

Discards all changes and closes the dialog.
