Physical Security
Ensuring the physical integrity and security of this device is paramount, especially considering its role in managing sensitive and critical operations. Here's a short note on the recommended physical security measures:
Installation in IP rated Control Panels:
The WP500 should be installed within IP45-rated (min recommended) control panels. These panels provide protection against dust ingress and water spray from any direction, which is essential in harsh industrial environments.
The robust nature of IP45 control panels also adds an extra layer of physical security against tampering.
These panels has a provision for door limit switch which can be used for tamper detection purpose.
Secured Location - Electrical Panel Room:
Ideally, the WP500 should be housed in a dedicated electrical panel room. This room should be secured and accessible only to authorized personnel.
The door to the panel room should always be locked when not in use, preventing unauthorized access.
Access Control - Permit System:
Implementing a permit system ensures that only authorized individuals with a legitimate purpose can access the WP500. This could be part of a broader access control policy within the facility.
The permit system should record who accesses the room, their purpose, and the duration of their stay, providing an audit trail for security purposes.
Regular Inspection and Maintenance:
Schedule regular inspections and maintenance checks of the WP500 and its housing. Ensure that the physical integrity of the control panels and the room is maintained.
Any signs of tampering or damage should be investigated promptly.
