Editing variables as text
As an alternative to the user friendly grid for editing variables, it is possible to declare variables as text. Text editing applies to all the variables of a group. It cannot be an I/O group. During text editing, the group and all its variables are locked in the grid so that no change can be entered from other windows.
To edit a group of variable as text, select the group in the grid and run the Tools / Edit Variables as Text... menu command.
If you want to edit another group of variables, it is not necessary to close the dialog.
Select the desired variable group on the left side of the dialog via a double-click to edit these variables.
Several syntaxes are available for describing variables:

A simple XML structure using tags and attributes |

CSV format (separator: semicolon) |
Hint: The group navigation of the Edit Variables as Text... command can be used for structures and variables. If you open the dialog in the structures context, a list of structures will be shown.
It is not possible to show structures and variables in one dialog at the same time. The displayed content always depends on the context, in which the dialog has been opened.
If there is only one group of variables or one structure in the list, the overview on the left side of the dialog will not be displayed.
