The engineering environment provides a tool to perform a detailed comparison between two projects. It is possible in a structured display for project items to identify differences between the given projects on different levels, such as programs (POUs), variable declarations, defines or compiling options. The comparison of project content is performed according to specific settings.

Project comparison can be entered in different ways:

• via the menu bar entry Tools in the Workbench Studio
• by selecting two projects in the Workspace, and using the Context Menu. In this case, the two selected projects are pre-configured in the initial dialog
• by using a command line utility, for external start of the tool, e.g. from a 3rd party application or script
