Communication parameters
Before turning the Workbench Studio in Online mode, you need to setup correct communication parameters.
In offline mode, the communication parameters are displayed in the status bar. To change them, use the Tools / Communication Settings... menu command or double-click on the parameters in the status bar.
The Workbench Studio support several possible protocols for communicating with the Runtime Service system:
- Standard Runtime Service protocol - supported by most of Runtime Service.
- Multiple Runtime Service protocol - for target systems running several VM tasks.
- Remote access protocol - for remote serial communication through modems and radio.
- Protocol over CAN
Select the protocol in the drop list and and enter the settings in the box below. The "..." button opens a wizard box for helping you entering the communication parameters according to the selected protocol.
Hint: The default Timeout setting is 3 seconds. If a value is entered that differs from the default value, this value is added in brackets at the end of the settings string.
Timeout value:
- 0 will be ignored and not added to the settings string
3 is default and will not be added to the settings string
Please note, that timeout settings can be OEM specific.
